NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Monday that the New York Jets are trade the No. 2 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft to the Denver Broncos for a 2024 late-round pick.
Wilson's move seemed inevitable in the final four months, but the partner eluded them.
This week, Denver addressed that question by signing the former BYU standout and Utah native, who entered the NFL as one of the most highly anticipated prospects of his class but struggled in New York.
Wilson was the Jets' top quarterback pick, but he went 3-10 in his debut year, taking 44 sacks, throwing 11 interceptions.
In his second season, he struggled again, pulling down a Jets club that had a great defence but couldn't win, pushing New York to sign Aaron Rodgers in the 2023 offseason.
Because of Rodgers' season-ending Achilles injury, Wilson was thrust back into the spotlight just four snaps into the 2023 season, instead of learning from the future Hall of Famer.
Wilson joins a Broncos club exploring quarterback options after their separation with Russell Wilson.
